1985 Chevrolet K5 Blazer 4x4

This is a 20+ year single owner 1988 Chevy K5 Blazer - that the seller purchased his senior year of high school in the early 2000s. He fixed up, modified it and used for several decades but is selling as he is moving and no longer regularly uses it.

Excluding some rust in the normal places this truck is a beast. Both engine and tranny have under 25,000 miles built by reputable shops and both came with warranty at the time and are still under the mileage portion.

Doug Thorly headers connected to a 3” pipe and a flow master muffler results in impeccable sound. The six inch lift kit allows for 35” tires on steel wheels. 4:10 gearing with a limited slip rear end provide plenty of torque especially in low range.

Inside, custom 6x9 inch rear JBL speakers in custom built boxes provide great sound. A 12,000lb Warn winch sits up front on an aftermarket bumper.

This blazer could be a show quality truck with great bones after a little TLC to clean up some rust issues. Original front bumper and soft top included!

Just passed California Smog with flying colors in July of 2026

So the idea of this vehicle was to be like a doomsday prepper get out of dodge type of vehicle. So, it's not a car show perfect truck, but rather a functional and reliable get down and dirty type of rig. But...since the zombies haven't come and I don't drive it...time to let it go to someone that can appreciate this type of vehicle.

1980 K5 Blazer 3/4 ton 4X4

This 1989 Chevrolet K5 Blazer Silverado V1500 was acquired by the previous owner in 2023 and subsequently refinished in black and over burgundy cloth and fitted with a Rough Country 4″ suspension lift (we removed the rough country lift and replaced with BDS Lift and Calvert Racing Traction Bars) and chrome 20″ Fuel Hammer wheels. It is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 linked to a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case and is further equipped with front disc brakes, power steering, a removable hardtop, a Softopper soft top, an electric rear window, air conditioning, cruise control, and a Pioneer Bluetooth stereo. This K5 Blazer is offered with a Carfax report and a clean Tennessee title.

The truck was repainted black under previous ownership, and the seller notes that the bumpers, grille, and rear window were replaced. Exterior details include a removable hardtop with sliding side windows as well as a Soft topper soft top, dual side mirrors, window tint film, an electric rear window, and a receiver hitch. The left hardtop window is cracked.
Chrome 20″ Fuel Hammer wheels were mounted with 37×12.5″ Nitto Ridge Grappler tires and installed under previous ownership. The truck is equipped with manually locking front hubs and power steering, and a Rough Country steering stabilizer and 4″ suspension lift were replaced by current ownership with a BDS Suspension Lift and BDS Duel Steering Stabilizer. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The front bucket seats and rear bench were reupholstered in burgundy cloth along with the door panel inserts under current ownership. Appointments include cruise control, a Pioneer Bluetooth stereo, and power windows, locks, and mirrors. The air conditioning system was serviced in 2024. The passenger seat hinge cover is missing.
The four-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column and frames an 85-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, voltage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 31k miles, approximately 250 of which were added under current ownership. The seller states that the odometer has rolled over once, and a March 1998 entry on the Carfax report shows the issuance of an “Exceeds Mechanical Limits” Mississippi title.
The 5.7-liter V8 features electronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 210 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The oil was changed under current ownership.
Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive as well as a dual-range transfer case.

Selling a K5 Blazer or GMC Jimmy?

1986 Chevy K5 Blazer 4x4 Silverado

Original SPID label in glove box with all options listed.

Not the original paint. Previous owner(elderly gentleman) did his own paint job of the colors he liked. It was originally white. Needs a paint job done correctly.

Original K5 Blazer that runs and drives like it should for its age. I drive it regularly and recently took it to Placerville without any issues. It runs smooth, shifts great, and has tight steering with no wandering on the road. This is an uncut/non-modified Blazer which is getting hard to find.

Details and recent work:

* 199,xxx miles on the chassis. Will go up as I drive it regularly
* 350 V8 New long block with paperwork, approximately 3000 miles
* 700R4 transmission with overdrive
* Clean California title, currently registered and insured
* Passed California smog on 8/27 with great numbers
* Complete original SPID label in glove box
* Power windows and door locks work
* Borgeson-style steering shaft with U-joints and lifetime warranty
* Cooper Discoverer SST tires with approximately 2,300 miles
* New spare tire included, not yet mounted on a wheel
* Window regulators replaced
* Vent windows completely rebuilt
* Removable top seals replaced
* Alpine stereo and Diamond D971 TDX speaker set in console with sound deadener. Needs amp.
* New O2 sensor
* Catalytic converter and muffler were replaced at the same time as engine
* New turn signal switch
* Doors and tailgate have sound deadener installed
* Vacuum lines have been gone through and updated where needed
* Transmission rear output shaft seal replaced
* Original emblem badges included with new hardware
* all original exterior trim and moldings

Extras:
- New parts such as interior pieces, headlights, Precision seals, dash components and much more
-14 bolt rear end
-Additional removable top with good windows
-spare carburetors with new high quality rebuild parts

Condition:

The Blazer runs and drives good as it should and is a solid driver. The paint is the main thing it needs attention on. The previous owner painted it about 20 years ago, and the paint has peeled in some areas and been touched up. I was planning to repaint it next spring.

There are a few other things here and there that could be addressed that are normal with age, but nothing major beyond the paint.

There is a lot more to it than whats listed here, and the receipts document much of its history.

This is a turn-key driver with a lot of the work already done. Not a perfect show truck, but a great K5 to enjoy as it is or continue improving.
